 FRED S. MEAD, 68 MACHESNEY PARK - Fred S. Mead, 68, of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at home, after a long illness. Born in Rockford on April 8, 1944, the son of Fred and Aletha Mead. He married Marilyn Kramar in 1967. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He was an electrician and retired from Warner Lambert in 2000. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was an avid Bears and NASCAR fan. Fred was a jack of all trades who was always willing to help out anyone who asked. He enjoyed living several years in Maui, Hawaii, after retiring before returning to Rockford. He had an irreverent sense of humor that was loved by all and could make people laugh at the strangest time. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Catrina "Tina" Darren Miller; son, Craig Mead; grandchildren, Ryan and Joey Miller and Kristen and Brandon Mueller; brother Carl Peggy Mead; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; daughter, Deborah Mueller ; brother, Robert and sister, Martha. Service at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 4311 N.
