Stephen Edward Nyquist
September 14,1944 - October 26, 2023

Steve Nyquist, 79, of Plover, WI went home to Jesus on October 26, 2023, after a year of fighting cancer.
Steve was born on September 14, 1944, in Rockford, Illinois, the oldest of three, to Willard and Virginia (Brundine) Nyquist. After high school graduation, he attended North Park College in Chicago. He married Gail Schutt in 1966. They have three children: Jeff, Mark, and Becca Nyquist and 6 grandchildren. Steve retired in 2019 from a career he loved with Warner Electric/Inertia Dynamics after 54 years.
Steve was known for being patient, kind, smart, stubborn, funny, and generous. He was a great friend, co-worker, and boss. He loved and valued his family from coast to coast. Some special times with his kids and grandkids included annual trips to family camp at Fort Wilderness in northern Wisconsin, Christmases on the East Coast, playing ROOK (according to Hoyle), and eating cherry pie (with Door County Cherries).
Steve was gifted musically and enjoyed playing his tuba and trombone in the Orchestra at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, CT. He loved participating in their production of “The Gift” at Christmas time. His other passions and interests included trains, cars, houses, movies, playing golf, chocolate shakes, sweet corn, farming, and tractors (especially his Allis Chalmers in honor of childhood memories).
Throughout his battle with cancer, he remained hopeful and positive. He is greatly missed by his family. To celebrate his life, there will be two services. In Plover, WI the service will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Woodlands Church 190 Hoover Avenue with the visitation at 12pm, service at 1pm and dessert to follow. A second service will take place in January at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon CT. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Steve’s honor to Fort Wilderness, Box 715, McNaughton, Wisconsin. 54543
