Carol Ann Taylor

March 4, 1944 ~ June 29, 2025 81 Years Old

Carol Ann Taylor, 81, of Rockford, IL passed away with family by her side on June 29, 2025. Born in Rockford on March 4, 1944, to her parents, Marvin and Norma (Engebretson) Beard. Carol worked for The University of Illinois, College of Nursing, Rockford.

Carol was a woman of many gifts, known for her creativity, kindness, and unwavering faith. A skilled quilter, she poured love into every stitch, crafting beautiful quilts for family and friends. Her green thumb brought life and color to her garden, a place she treasured as much as the hummingbirds she so adored watching.  Deeply rooted in her faith, Carol lived her life as a reflection of her spiritual strength—graceful, generous, and compassionate. Her greatest joy was her family, with whom she shared countless cherished moments and enduring love.

Carol’s gentle spirit, warm heart, and enduring devotion to those she loved will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to give special thanks to Serenity Hospice, especially their favorite nurse, Ruth, hands-on healthcare workers at St. Anne’s Place, Juanita Macias, and the quilting crew.

Carol is survived by her children, Timothy (Shelley) Johnson and Kristine (Victor) Macias; grandchildren, Victor Macias (Ethan Stoop), Alexandria Macias (Colton Hawkins), Emily Johnson, Olivia Johnson and Dylan Johnson; brothers, Ronald (Pam) Beard, Gerald Beard and James Beard; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Marvin and Norma Beard; siblings, Thomas and Barbara Beard.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, IL 61107, at 11:00 AM with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM until the mass. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park.
