Roger Cogswell

Roger Linn Cogswell CHAPIN - A funeral service for Roger Linn Cogswell, of Chapin, will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Chapin Presbyterian Church, with a visitation on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 5-7pm at the church. Burial will take place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, with full military honors, following the service. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center, 2009 C Hampton St, Columbia, SC 29204. Mr. Cogswell passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at the age of 70. Born on August 31, 1944 in Rockford, IL, he was the son of the late Homer Laverne Cogswell and Corrine Evelyn Brown. He retired from the Air Force, with 27 years active duty, as full Colonel. Served as a C-130 pilot in Vietnam 1968-69, and was awarded numerous commendations and medals. In 1977-78 he was ordered to a Peace Observer Post in Israel and the Sinai desert. His last assignment was Deputy Commander of Maintenance (DCM) at Andrews AFB, Presidential Fleet from 1990-94. In retirement, he worked as an executive placement officer for Fortune Personnel. More recently he served as Board Chairman of Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center, Columbia, SC and was actively engaged in Pro Life endeavors. Roger is survived by his wife of 47 years, Chris; son, Mitch (Fawn) Cogswell; daughter, Gina (Doug) Hopkins; brother, Gary (Joanne) Cogswell; sister, Janice (Jim) Kunkle; grandchildren, Colton and McKenzie Cogswell, Ethan, Evelyn, and Amelia Hopkins. Carol Busch (Telling)

Great smile, great fun, great guy.  Roger had a very distinguished career and life..........I had a nice chat with him at the reunion about his piloting the Presidential plane .
