November 12, 1944 ~ December 22, 2021 (age 77)

 

Rebecca Donovan, age 77, longtime resident of Monroe Center passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Wesley Willows in Rockford. She was born in Rockford on November 12, 1944 the daughter of John E. and Dorothy E. (Lowell) Donovan. She worked for many years as a nurse for Rockford Memorial Hospital. Rebecca was awarded the American Red Cross Point of Light Reward for all of her volunteer hours. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron where she was active in the prayer shawl guild and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She had a giving heart and that lead her to join a sewing group that donated numerous quilts, stuffed animals, and receiving blankets to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. In her spare time; she loved to travel.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Tom Donovan and Timothy Donovan. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family and friends.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron with Monsignor Michael Tierney officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30-10:30 prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Byron. The service will be live streamed from the St. Mary’s Church YouTube Chanel.  Memorials are established for The American Red Cross. Please wear masks the visitation and memorial service.

Grew up with this wonderful family in Cherry Valley.  All started at CV grade school.

Spent many hours as a kid playing with them, also while my ship was loading out in Oakland met up wirh Rebecca in 67 went to Haight Ashbury together sorry to hear about her passing.
