JoAnn Adams

JoAnn Adams (nee Lindoerfer), age 72 years, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 9, 2016.

Survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Carl Adams. Her charitable life will forever be cherished by her sons, Stewart of O'Fallon, MO, and Spencer of Joliet, IL; sister, Mona Bowers of Rockford, IL; and son-in-law, Vincent Buss of Aurora, IL. Loving grandmother of Hanna and Joseph Buss, Benjamin and Sarah Adams, Delanie and Cecilie Adams. Treasured by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Arina Lindoerfer in 1999; and one beloved daughter, Heather JoAnn Buss in 2013.

Born on January 28, 1944, to deaf parents, in Rockford. JoAnn was retired from Joliet School District 86, last teaching at Forest Park Elementary I.E. School. After graduating from Manchester College in early 1968 she and Carl were married on August 25, 1968. After the births of Heather and Stewart in Rockford, the family moved to Joliet in August of 1974. In November of 1978, Spencer was born in Aurora, IL. JoAnn joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1968 and remained a devoted member the remainder of her life.

She encouraged and supported her children in all their endeavors through scouts, 4-H, PTA, music and church activities. She was skilled in sewing, knitting and crocheting. In her early twenties she served a Brethren Volunteer Service mission in Puerto Rico at Inter-American University, perfecting her Spanish speaking abilities in the process.

After retirement she and Carl served a records preservation (genealogy) mission in Melbourne, Australia for 17 months. Traveling was also enjoyable, with her most recent destinations being Turkey and Greece.

A celebration of JoAnn's life will be held on Saturday, April 16 2016, with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the memorial service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 655 Springfield Avenue, Joliet, IL. Interment and grave dedication will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.

I remember Joann very well.  The one funny thing was that she could only wear certain fabrics.  At the time, we didn't know very much about allergies.  I also remember how smart she was.  She was one of those people that stayed on your mind because she was always so nice to everyone.  We were closer in grade school and in high school we didn't share very many classes.  I am sorry that we just got this message about her death and i extend my deepest sympathy to her husband and her family..
