Sandra L. (Trapani) Johns

DECEMBER 27, 1943 – OCTOBER 2, 2021

Sandra Lynn Johns, 77, of Rockford IL, passed away October 2, 2021. She was born in Rockford IL on December 27, 1943. Sandra (Trapani) graduated from Auburn High school in 1962. She was married to David Russell Johns on January 7, 1967. Sandi worked for numerous organizations in the Rockford area including Nehi-Royal Crown Bottling Co., Joseph Behr & Sons, and Ingersoll Machine Tools as an Accountant; St. Bernadette Catholic School as a librarian, and the Rockford Public School System in various teaching and administrative positions. Most importantly, she was a proud farmer’s wife and a dedicated and loving grandmother to her four granddaughters. Throughout her life she enjoyed crochet, knitting, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her children David, Matthew, and Nicholas Johns; grandchildren Abigail Champeny-Johns (Bea), Madeline Champeny-Johns (LuLu), Isabella Johns, and Taylor Johns; and her sister, Pamela Trapani Burns. She is also survived by her daughter-in-laws Carie Champeny-Johns and Kaci Johns; sister-in-law Christine Hunter, surviving spouse of her brother Michael Hunter who died in 2009, numerous nieces and nephews; and dear close friend Judy Gsell. She is preceded in death by her husband David, brother Michael, parents Maxine and Nick Trapani, and her loving grandmother Melvina (Nannie) Coulson.

Memorial service for Sandi will be held October 6, 2021 at 3pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
