Gene E. Wienzierl

Gene Everett Wienzierl, 78, of Rockford, IL, passed away on August 4, 2022. He was born in Rockford, IL on April 18, 1944 to Everett and Margaret (Two) Wienzierl. Gene married Vicki Kay Wohlfert on March 15, 1965 and together they had 3 children. After they divorced Gene went on and married Mary Barbara Johnson on December 15, 1984. Gene worked for many years at Action Tool and Manufacturing in Maintenance and also owned and operated Dr. Gene’s Interior Decorating. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and bargain hunting. He had a huge love for his dogs and his garden. Gene was a loving and patient father. He would find toys and fix them up to make sure the kids had many things to play with in the yard. Gene was always willing to help his children learn new things. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Gene is survived by his children, Kimberly Kay (Thomas J. Davis) Dunaway, Tammy Jo Horsley, and Tiffany Chantelle (Edward) Kindred; his 7 grandchildren; his 4 great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Cichella-Jessup; the mother of his children and first wife, Vicki Wohlfert; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Margaret; his wife, Mary; his step-father, Ralph Ebens; his step-mother, Wilma Paris; and his step-daughter, Robin Przytulski.

There will be a Celebration of Gene’s life starting at 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Neighbor’s Bar and Grill, 7445 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.
